National Sports Acupuncture Association ****************************************************************** Dr. Reaves is to my knowledge the first person in the acupuncture world to develop a comprehensive treatment system that combines channel therapy, micro-systems and orthopedic acupuncture. His book, The Acupuncture Handbook of Sports Injuries and Pain, provides the basics of his protocols for treating 25 of the most common orthopedic conditions that you will see in your practice.
He has put into his book the cumulative knowledge and insight of 30 years of clinical practice focused on athletes and the disorders they encounter and develop while training for and competing in their sports. The protocols apply to anybody you might encounter in your practice with orthopedic problems, whether from a traumatic accident or work-related repetitive stress condition. Just as importantly, in the book you get a menu of options for treating any sports injury or musculoskeletal disorder you encounter. There will always be cases that perplex us and we need resources like this that we can dig into for help.
I have a big bag of treatment tricks that I used in my sports acupuncture practice. But, I still find treatment gems in The Acupuncture Handbook.
